After 4 years of working remotely/freelancing, I wanted to express my creativity with a new team, dedicating myself to one brand only. That’s the moment I found Minsar.

Minsar is an application for AR/VR Headsets, phone or tablet. It lets you build your interractive experience with taking into consideration your room’s size/shape with media such as photos, music, text, but above all : 3D!

It’s easy and fun, just simply drop elements in front of you through the user interface. My role, and favorite part of this job, was designing features and the whole user interface, managing and driving projects from conceptualization to implementation.

I was also in charge of developing marketing mock-ups, our branding, our website, our portal, a collection of 300 icons and, of course, our art direction guidelines.

IDENTITY

Any approach must have an avant-garde vision. That’s why our typography is timeless and our colors are based on the morning dusk, to show the possibility of something bigger that will emerge.

To avoid any eccentricity linked to the style and interpretation, it is imperative that the design is contained by a rational constancy. Expressing exactly what the icon looks like, without going into the meaning because sooner or later the icon will be used for another function. For example, the heart icon: It shouldn’t be called “Love” but Heart. Or also a back icon couldn’t be named “Back”, the name must be “Arrow”.

Good design means as little design as possible.

Science, industry, and art are fields in constant revolution. It may be curious by explaining this fundamental pillar of our artistic direction referring to these which are far from the field of augmented reality. These examples are however fundamental: they are in full transformation just like the relationship that we are going to have with the interfaces. When a motorcycle giving up parts like a fuel tank and an exhaust pipe in favor of an electric battery, how to make sense of a design when it strips off everything, even the most traditional benchmarks ? The machinery is simplified, leaving the field open for dialogue with the user. This convergence of interfaces must be carefully scrutinized, each field brings its share of innovation, and augmented reality must be nourished by these evolutions.

PRODUCT

MODULAR

Using modules as the basis for designing, to create unique experiences for creation. We made a collection of reusable components in a design-system, guided by clear standards, that can be assembled together to build any number of products.

SCALABLE

Working with a grid is an essential starting point for any project. The grid defines a mathematical system for the design and provides rules for the size and placement of objects within it. The number of possibilities for any given decision is reduced, making it faster to explore and iterate solutions. All productions are designed on a vector-based app to allow lighter exports and the highest quality.

ACCESSIBLE

We need to maintain the same UI across various platforms, using devices like AR/VR headsets, smartphone, tablet, and desk monitor. Every size depends on a recommended target-size, multiple devices, accessibility standards, and different languages. A design that only works for one of these isn’t complete.

COMPACT

Simple doesn’t mean primitive. Less isn’t vague. Short doesn’t mean little. Air doesn’t equal void. Our “Reveal Highlight” is a lighting effect that highlights interactive elements, such as command bars, when the user moves the pointer near them. By exposing the hidden borders around objects, this effect gives users a better understanding of the space that they are interacting with, and helps them understanding the actions available.

DYNAMIC

Shaders and micro-animations are essentials to diversify means of communication. Sometimes to infuse a natural movement of the interface, guide the user or support an action.

MANAGEABLE

The application is also linked to a WebVR portal to facilitate the management and distribution of experiences. It can be opened on traditional computer/smartphone but also in front of you with a AR/VR headset without having to switch apps or hardware.
